Water Champion - Lyn from Katherine South

Meet Lyn and her pooch Harvey!  Together they are Water Champions.  

Lyn moved into her elevated home 8 years ago, and with it took on a beautiful tropical style garden filled with palms, orchids, flowering exotics and a small patch of lawn. 

"The garden is quite water smart as there's not a lot of grass to water, I use mulch to help keep the weeds down and I make sure to stick to the Water Conservation Measures", says Lyn as Harvey the dog runs around at her feet.    

But it was difficult to remain water smart with an aging irrigation system that was slowly deteriorating.  "A couple of underground pipes burst and things were getting a little out of hand", explains Lyn.  "I read on Facebook that there was a rebate where I could get someone to sort out my irrigation and then show me what to do."  

Lyn visited Power and Water's customer service centre on First Street who helped her look up the Living Water Smart website and find an irrigator.  "I gave Harry from RPC Landscaping a call.  I didn't even know there was an irrigation expert in town, so was pleased to get Harry and his team around".  

Harry and Brent reprogrammed Lyn's irrigation, made some small on-the-spot repairs to sprinkler heads and adjusted the direction of the lawn sprinklers. They also gave Lyn some advice about possible upgrades to her irrigation in the future. 

"It's a lot easier to have an automatic irrigation system than hand watering all my plants and moving sprinklers around", says Lyn. "So I'm very pleased to have my system back working properly and scheduled so that I don't even have to think about it!"
